Before building a new home for their business and communications programs, Sacred Heart University knew they needed to create a cutting-edge facility to meet the needs of its current, and future, students. With Sasaki, they developed the Frank and Marisa Martire Business and Communications Center.

This 130,000 SF facility gives SHU’s faculty and students a place to research, learn, and grow. Acentech provided audiovisual and architectural acoustics consulting services during each phase of the project.

Acentech provided recommendations for an active trading room complete with three 80-inch LCD screens, 30 workstations, 13 Bloomberg terminals, and an LCD ticker displaying real-time data from the NASDAQ and NYSE. For the communications program, Acentech assisted with the design of two large studios for television, video, and film production; industry-standard post-production facilities; screening venues; an NPR-affiliated radio station; and a motion capture lab. The Center’s satellite-equipped classrooms for video-conferencing and distance learning also came to life with Acentech’s AV services.

Learning within this state-of-the-art environment is impossible if students, faculty, and staff cannot hear one another. That’s why Acentech’s multi-faceted team was happy to provide architectural acoustics consulting in addition to AV design. A truly impressive structure, the Center has an expansive two-story atrium, classrooms, conference rooms, and faculty offices. Acentech provided room acoustics, sound isolation, and mechanical system noise and vibration control for all of these spaces. Preparing for the future of both business and communications industries meant that each system needed to be user-friendly, easily upgradable, and reliable. Acentech was proud to provide creative, thoughtful solutions for this new hub of innovation.
