The home of the Colorado Rockies National League baseball team is a 50,000 seat baseball-only facility, designed to evoke the nostalgia of ballparks built in the early 1900’s.
To respect the aesthetic design of the park, but provide state-of-the art performance, Acentech designed a completely distributed sound system using 280 custom loudspeaker systems employing over 1,000 transducers within the seating bowl. The shapes of the various loudspeakers were selected for the least visual impact possible. The result is clear, intelligible, uniform, high-fidelity stereo sound for each patron. The system is controlled using a touch-sensitive computer screen to turn on and off systems serving the various seating areas. Over 100,000 watts of audio power drive the system to the sound output levels required to compete with crowd noise.
Acentech also designed a television distribution system to serve the restaurants, concourses, suites, and back-of-house areas. Three satellite dishes allow the system operators to select almost any conceivable programming. The dishes are coordinated with the coaching facilities to allow downlink of special programming.
Our consultants also provided structural dynamics consulting to the structural engineers to assist them with their design of the upper seating deck. As the architectural design further evolved, Acentech provided recommendations for interior acoustics and HVAC system noise and vibration control.
