Acentech provided acoustics, audiovisual, and telecommunications consulting services for architecture firm NADAAA’s reinvention of the library at Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, MA.

The school wanted to include a more interactive component to the library by introducing maker spaces and open work studios that allow students to collaborate and create projects in the library. As part of an effort to provide an engaging library, the school and the design team created a central opening between the maker space level and the research/study/office level. A dedicated room for noisy woodshop equipment was designed to be well isolated from the rest of the library. Acentech created a 3D Listening® auralization demonstration with the various architectural options to help the school and the architect make design decisions for finishes, glazing, and architectural elements.

Collaborating with the knowledgeable technology staff at BCDS, our audiovisual consultants ensured the technology included in this project met the campus standards. These systems allow faculty and students to continue using collaborative technologies throughout their newly renovated building. Digital signage, similar to other displays on campus, showcases upcoming events and other school messaging.

Acentech also provided the necessary telecommunications network infrastructure to bring the new Learning Center up to current wired and wireless connectivity for the students and staff. Given the existing concrete structure that, for the most part, remains in place, careful coordination was necessary to ensure cable paths and wireless coverage meet the needs of the school today — and into the future.
