Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is undergoing an ambitious multi-billion-dollar transformation to modernize its facilities in preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games and future international events.
Acentech is proud to support this initiative by providing acoustics, audiovisual, telecommunications, and security systems consulting services for the refresh of both Terminals 2 and 6. In partnership with City Design Studio and SCB, our work focuses on enhancing key passenger areas including arrivals, departures, ticketing, and baggage claim, along with large technology upgrades for Terminal 2.
In the demanding environment of a major airport, managing sound is critical. Our acoustics team is addressing challenges such as excessive reverberation, mechanical system noise, and acoustic separation—ensuring that travelers and staff can hear important announcements clearly, even amidst a backdrop of noise from passengers traversing the terminals, carrying out check-in or baggage activities.
Acentech’s audiovisual consultants are developing design recommendations for public address systems and digital signage throughout both terminals. Telecommunications and Security systems infrastructure upgrades will include a relocation of the Main Point of Entry (MPOE) for the servers that support the entirety of Terminal 2, along with the refresh of low-voltage assets throughout the terminals, including: security cameras, WiFi antennas, and the integration of automatic passenger exit devices (Dormakaba systems). These items will allow both terminals to meet and exceed international airport standards for years to come
Together, these enhancements will contribute to a seamless, high-quality passenger experience—supporting LAWA’s vision for operational excellence and positioning LAX among the world’s top-performing airports.
