The Beauport Hotel is a boutique hotel located along the quaint Gloucester Harbor shoreline. Outfitted with lounges, waterfront restaurant, function rooms, guest rooms, fitness center, business center, parking garage, rooftop pool, and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean from most anywhere in the building, the Beauport Hotel offers a posh take on New England charm. Acentech worked closely with Olson Lewis + Architects to design a suitable acoustical environment. Our acoustics consultants provided the design team with recommendations regarding sound isolation, mechanical system noise control, and room acoustics throughout the building.
The client’s goal was to provide a warm luxury environment for parties, weddings, and other events. While a social atmosphere was the basis of the design, hotel owners wished to also provide sufficient privacy to the guest rooms, so that these are quiet and personal.
The building has a hybrid structure of wood and concrete, which raised a number of sound isolation challenges between the public spaces and the private rooms. Wherever possible, strategic layouts were considered to minimize the need for sound isolation constructions. Everywhere else, sound barrier ceilings and walls upgraded with resilient components were employed. Noise and reverberation control in the public spaces were other acoustical aspects of the design that the Acentech team paid close attention to.
