Located less than 5 miles from downtown Washington, DC, National Landing has grown into an exciting, mixed-use urban enclave, and is considered Virginia’s largest walkable downtown destination. Amazon identified this area  as the location for its second headquarters (HQ2), and hired developer JBG Smith and architecture firm ZGF to design the first phase of the HQ2 vision. Amazon is deeply committed to sustainable practices, and its new, 2.1 million square foot headquarters promotes natural light, fresh air, accessible design and occupant wellbeing, among other green design practices.

Acentech’s team collaborated with designers at ZGF on the two, 22-story office towers, providing acoustics and noise/vibration control recommendations for the building envelope, core, mechanical areas, and interior shell. We also teamed with design firm NBBJ, providing acoustics and noise control recommendations for the interior fit-out of several floors which include the entry/reception, offices and collaboration spaces, training rooms, a large multi-purpose event space, private conference rooms, and café/dining areas.

Local retailers – including cafes and a daycare – occupy the ground level spaces, and landscaped outdoor terraces and a playground welcome everyone to Met Park, not just Amazon employees. The 700-person multi-purpose event space hosts career fairs, all-hands meetings, performances and events. The new Amazon HQ2 at Met Park is truly a rich resource for employees and a welcome addition to the National Landing neighborhood.
