ENR New England Top Young Professionals – Class of 2019!

Acentech is proud to announce that ENR New England has selected two of the firm’s directors for its Top Young Professionals list. Sarah McGillicuddy, Director of Marketing and Business Development, and Ben Markham, Director of Architectural Acoustics, share this prestigious accolade with leaders of internationally-recognized architectural, engineering, and construction firms throughout New England. Both of these leaders at Acentech have dedicated their careers to the advancement of design community’s appreciation for the world of sound.

About Sarah
Sarah McGillicuddy has developed into a key player in Boston’s Architecture/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry over the last decade. When arriving at Acentech, she brought new ideas and an enthusiasm that energized the firm’s marketing and business development efforts. In her nearly six-year tenure, Sarah has overseen a major rebranding effort, launched an award-winning website and blog, spearheaded a new PR strategy, and diversified Acentech’s presence in new key markets. Sarah’s focus on a national presence for Acentech’s publicity resulted in significant coverage from prestigious and trusted organizations, including Metropolis, Xconomy, NPR, and PBS. Sarah is actively engaged in the AEC industry serving on the board of Directors for the newly launched Boston chapter of Professional Women in Construction. She serves on two committees for CoreNet New England, on the Marketing committee for both IFMA and NAIOP, and is an active member of CREW. About Ben
Benjamin Markham is among the country’s most accomplished acoustical consultants: he has consulted on the design of over 2000 buildings, and teaches acoustics at three of the top architectural schools in the country. From the headquarters for a Fortune 500 company, to a globally-lauded art museum, to the restoration of a town hall from the 1600s, to world-class music education facilities, Ben’s engineering skill can be seen on projects all over the United States. Ben’s accomplishments for the A/E/C industry center on the complex, subtle world of sound in buildings. Ben prioritized the development of one of the industry’s most advanced acoustics simulation tools, known as 3DListening®. This predictive listening technology allows architects, engineers, construction managers, and end-users hear how design decisions will affect the sound in a space – before it is built. 3DListening was used to determine the best acoustical room finishes for spaces inside the Museum of Fine Arts, TripAdvisor’s global headquarters, and Harvard University’s new $1.2 billion Science and Engineering Center. In the broader A/E/C community, Ben is a member of the Urban Land Institute and has presented at meetings of the International Association of Venue Managers, NAIOP, the Society of College and University Planners, the American Library Association, and dozens of others. He is the author of a Design Guide for the American Institute of Steel Construction on the topic of noise control in steel buildings. In his time as Director of Acentech’s architectural acoustics group, he has overseen unprecedented growth of Acentech’s acoustics consulting work, with a focus on delivering world class service on high impact projects.
