What I’m Listening to Now

“My role provides me with opportunities to work with incredibly talented designers on challenging and important acoustical design issues. Acentech collaborates with architects and engineers that are brilliant problem solvers and real team players in the best and most dynamic sense of the phrase.”

Benjamin Markham brings his passion for acoustics to his role as Principal Consultant and Director of Acentech’s Architectural Acoustics group. He has over 19 years of experience in project leadership and consulting management of architectural acoustics design and mechanical systems noise control related to performance spaces and commercial, residential, and civic-type facilities. Ben consults on various aspects of acoustical design, utilizing computer modeling and auralizations to simulate acoustic environments, to room acoustics, sound isolation, as well as environmental noise control for auditorium and concert hall acoustics, music rehearsal and worship space acoustics, and classroom and lecture hall acoustics. He is a frequent visiting lecturer at several architectural schools and universities including MIT, Cornell University and Harvard University.

Ben’s Acoustical Inspiration

“When I was young, I sang in a children’s choir and we toured all over the world, even singing for the Pope. The experience gave me my love of music and was, in many ways, the foundation for the career I chose. Later, Acentech founder Carl Rosenberg taught my architectural acoustics class when I was a senior at Princeton. Carl is an amazing and engaging teacher, and he was president of Acentech at the time. I was hooked on acoustics as a discipline and knew that I would come to Acentech.”
