What I’m Listening to Now
“I first connected to Acentech through my undergraduate institution’s alumni directory. I was studying mechanical engineering and practicing piano whenever possible, but wanted to pursue acoustics upon graduation to combine my study with my musical passion. A few years later, I’m working for the person who first introduced me to consulting.”
Kelsey Rogers is an acoustician who works on projects involving educational, performing arts, commercial and residential facilities. Her areas of concentration include architectural acoustics, mechanical systems noise and vibration control, and environmental acoustics. An active classical pianist, Kelsey uses her background in music and dance to inform her technical practice of acoustics. She also has a strong interest in auralization, and is involved in ongoing research and development of Acentech’s 3DListening technology.
Finding meaning in work
My high school physics teacher taught me how to think: When you reduce a complex problem to a set of “givens” and “unknowns,” along with the equations that might be useful to solve for such “unknowns,” life becomes a little more manageable. Olympic figure skating champion Evan Lysacek’s quote is meaningful to me: “I know that I have tons of work ahead of me. But it’s work that I’ve been waiting my entire life to do.”
When I’m not at work, I’m hopefully playing piano or figure skating, but more likely seeking the attention of any dog in sight.
