From Paris to Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur, someone looking stay in a Mandarin Oriental Hotel is searching for one thing: luxury. Creating a hotel and residential building for those of discerning taste requires a fine attention to detail. So, when CBT Architects was chosen by Mandarin Oriental to design a new space in Boston, Acentech was the natural choice for acoustics consulting.
The 450,000 SF, 11-story facility boasts 50 luxury residences, more than 150 hotel rooms, a 4-star restaurant, luxury boutique shopping, banquet rooms, and meeting rooms, a 16,000 SF spa. Upper floor residences also include rooftop terraces for views of the Back Bay and Charles River.
Acentech focused on sound isolation and mechanical system noise and vibration control for this landmark structure. Acentech recommended demising constructions for minimizing sound transmission between residences and guest rooms both vertically and horizontally to allow tenants and visitors privacy from internal and external noise concerns.
The resulting acoustical experience within this building met the lofty expectations for this premier project.
