Iron Mountain is a worldwide provider of information storage and management solutions, and relocated their global headquarters to One Federal Street in Boston. The new facility houses 112,000 SF of an open office floor plan for 600 employees.

Acentech provided acoustics consulting services for a variety of the open and closed office spaces, as well as over 30 conference rooms. Acentech consulted on the room acoustics, sound isolation, and mechanical noise control.

Iron Mountain’s layout called for the new conference rooms to be adjacent to the core of the building as well as noisy HVAC ducts. One of the major project goals was to improve collaboration spaces for employees, therefore Acentech recommended enclosing the ducts above all conference rooms in gypsum board, soffitting, and construction to achieve excellent room acoustics. Acentech also established the performance specification criteria for the new sound masking system, thus ensuring the proper system could be competitively bid.

The Iron Mountain headquarters project has been attained LEED Gold certification.
