The BCH is a globally-renowned center for pediatric care, and Acentech was honored to provide acoustical consulting throughout the construction phases of their James Mandell Building. The 116,000 SF, ten-story urban infill structure provides much-needed expansion space for their neurology department, specialized imaging services, inpatient care, same-day surgeries, and pharmacy.
Acentech was highly concerned about noise transmission from above grade MRIs to other locations and worked with the design team to detail sound isolation constructions required to eliminate related noise transmission. Controlling the ventilation noise emission to the outdoor courtyard also provided a challenge. Acentech worked extensively with the project’s mechanical engineer to incorporate proper noise control treatments to the many ducted and airborne noise paths between mechanical equipment and occupied spaces. Patient rooms, exam rooms, consultation rooms, multi-purpose rooms, nurse and physician workrooms, and offices also benefitted from our expertise.
