“I love buildings and admire good design, and I enjoy working with others to help design buildings. It is gratifying to use my architectural engineering background to achieve good acoustics that are integrated with the architect’s design concept and the engineer’s systems.”

Douglas Sturz began his career at acoustics pioneering firm Bolt Beranek and Newman before joining Acentech in the firm’s early days. During his professional career, Doug has been engaged in a variety of projects involving mechanical system noise control, vibration isolation, noise control, sound isolation, and room acoustics. He has worked on a full range of project types including multi-family residential construction, performing arts facilities, civic and convention centers, office buildings, studios (radio, television, and recording), churches, and rapid transit facilities. Having been principally involved with the design of more than a hundred science/laboratory facilities, the majority of which include noise and/or vibration sensitive equipment, this type of building is one of Doug’s specialties. He also consults on projects where community noise due to mechanical systems is a concern and works to reduce noise in order to meet community standards.

On time or early

I enjoy staying active by skiing at Loon Mountain or boating on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. My motto is “on time or early.”
