When the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group chose to create a new hotel and residence facility in Boston, Acentech was selected by CBT Architects to provide acoustics consulting. The facility features 50 luxury residences, more than 150 hotel rooms, a 4-star restaurant, luxury boutique shopping, a 16,000 SF spa and fitness facility, banquet rooms, and meeting rooms. Upper floor residences also include rooftop terraces for views of the Back Bay and Charles River.

Acentech focused on sound isolation and mechanical system noise and vibration control. Acentech recommended demising constructions for minimizing sound transmission between the residences and the guest rooms both vertically and horizontally to allow the occupants of each space their enjoyment and privacy from others. We recommended mechanical systems to minimize noise and vibration, including the equipment within each residence, the rooftop equipment adjacent to the rooftop terraces, and the emergency generator in the lower level of the building.

The acoustical designs achieved the acoustics goals consistent with the high expectations for this premier project.
