Q Division is a commercial recording studio that primarily produces popular music recordings. The facility consists of two main recording studios, Studio “A” and “B”. The photographs show the recording space and the control room of Studio “A”. The large control room features a classic Neve mixing console, analog 24 track tape machines, Genelec nearfield monitors, a large array of vintage microphones, and outboard processors including both analog and digital equipment. While the studio relies heavily on vintage analog recording equipment, it also incorporates the latest Pro Tools hard disc recording and editing software.

Q Division retained Acentech to provide the acoustical design for the facility. Sound isolation was a major issue because the Project Architect wanted to incorporate existing skylights into the design. We performed detailed analyses and recommended treatments to the skylights to ensure that sound would not bother nearby neighbors and nearby traffic and aircraft would not disturb recording sessions.
