Residential Sound Insulation ProgramIndianapolis Airport Authority ![]() In 1987, the Indianapolis Airport Authority conducted a Part 150 study to produce the first noise maps of the Indianapolis International Airport and surrounding community. As a result of the study, a residential sound insulation program (RSIP) was launched to treat those residences significantly impacted by aircraft noise. Acentech was retained as the acoustical consultant for the retro-fitting of windows and doors in selected Indianapolis Airport area homes. Several phases of sound insulation have come and gone over the last 16 years and Acentech continues to provide sound isolation consulting services for the most recent contracts. Since its inception, the ongoing RSIP has treated thousands of houses. Acentech has performed field noise reduction testing on hundreds of those houses. The noise maps were updated in 1992 and again in 1997 to represent changes in air traffic due to the addition of new runways. The sound insulation programs respond accordingly. |
