Cardiovascular Center

University of Michigan
Ann Arbor, MI

The state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Center at the University of Michigan is a leader in patient centered care and one of the nation’s first fully comprehensive cardiovascular treatment centers. The center opened in 2007.

The $215 million facility comprises 350,000 gross square feet on 6 floors and 2 basement levels. Acentech focused much of our consulting on three main spaces: the auditorium, conference rooms and procedure rooms. Audio, videoconference and projection systems in each space allow for front and rear projection to display a variety of content and image resolutions from their original source locations. The auditorium’s tele-medicine presentation system, connected with four local procedure rooms, projects content and image resolutions in a variety of formats, including side by side images across projection screens. We worked carefully with the design team to carefully plan and coordinate the equipment selection and technology integration. To better serve daily demands, Acentech designed an easy-to-use cutting edge audiovisual system where everything can be run by the end user as opposed to an AV technician.

Acentech’s acoustical services to the rooms included sound isolation, room shaping and finishes to ensure good listening conditions, and HVAC noise control for a quiet background. We consulted on reverberation control in the glass-walled atrium, acoustical privacy between exam rooms and offices, and the control of mechanical system noise to the surrounding campus.
