A major power company re-powered a coal-fired power station with three General Electric 6FA gas-fired combustion turbines generator sets, associated heat recovery steam generators, and support equipment at a site in central Indiana. Acentech consulted with the Owner and A&E firm on the project since the preliminary engineering phase. We characterized the existing sound environment in the nearby community; developed project noise goals; initially evaluated the project noise levels and recommended equipment noise specifications; proposed noise mitigation options and treatments; reviewed design and equipment vendor information; and conducted field noise evaluations of the installed equipment to check compliance with contract specifications and project noise goals.
