The centerpiece of this 158,000 square foot facility is the three-story Commons-an atrium space, flooded with light that will serve as the social and academic center of the business school. Acoustically, the Commons must accommodate a range of activities from small informal breakout groups to formal presentations for 500 persons seated on the main floor. Much of the sound absorbing treatment, required to control reverberation and enhance speech intelligibility, is visually integrated in a subtle manner, behind wood slats and perforated wood paneling.

The building contains a 300-seat auditorium, several large classrooms with tiered seating, and a suite of interactive lab spaces, including a simulated financial trading floor, known as the Market Information Laboratory.

The new instructional facility is scheduled to open for classes in 2008.
