![]() The New Washington Convention Center is ranked one of the top ten facilities in the United States for prime exhibit space. The total building area is slightly more than 2 million square feet including 725,000 square feet of prime exhibit space. Two thirds of this exhibit space, along with 40 truck loading berths, was constructed completely below grade to reduce the visual bulk of the center. The Grand Ballroom, located in the south block at the uppermost level, offers spectacular views over the city and its monuments from the prefunction space. Several factors were involved in Acentech’s vibration control analysis – roadways and truck ramps within the convention center structure, close proximity to the Metro, and large span construction. Limited site space and substantial cooling requirements called for special attention to mechanical system noise and vibration control. Acentech’s designs for sound and audiovisual systems integrate computer based digital signal processing audio computers with Ethernet audio distribution for an efficient, technologically advanced system. |
