ACOUSTICS ENGINEER

Acentech seeks an engineer to work with a team specializing in product noise reduction, as well as government-sponsored research programs, involving one or more of the following areas: acoustics, vibration, signal processing, transducer design.

Requirements:

Advanced degree in engineering, physics, acoustics or related technical field. 5+ years experience in acoustics and vibration. Strong background in most of the following areas: structureborne noise, product noise, sound quality, signal processing, transducer design, vibration propagation. Ability to perform “hands-on” lab and field work, plus theoretical analysis of sound and vibration problems. Strong working knowledge of Matlab, Excel, Word. Familiarity with sound and vibration instrumentation. Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills for interacting with clients and project team members, and for contributing to reports and proposals. U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.

VIBRATION ENGINEER

Acentech seeks an experienced Vibration Engineer to work with a team on a variety of projects. Responsibilities include prediction, field measurements, and mitigation of vibration and noise of buildings and building components due to external disturbances (e.g., rail and road traffic, helicopter overflights, construction activities, wind gusts) and internal disturbances (personnel and mechanical equipment). Evaluation of impact on personnel and equipment. Prescription of mitigation means. Design and evaluation of means for protection of sensitive equipment from noise and vibration and of means for attenuation of vibrations and structure-borne sound. Advice on design of vibration-resistant facilities and structures. Analysis of potential damage to building structures and equipment due to vibrations and sound. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple projects.

Requirements:

Advanced degree in Engineering, with specialization in structural dynamics, vibration, or acoustics. Three years or more of related technical experience. Experience with finite-element analysis. Familiarity with vibrations/acoustics measurement instrumentation and related data processing and analysis. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential. Structural engineering background and consulting experience are pluses.

SENIOR AV CONSULTANT -- CAMBRIDGE AND LOS ANGELES

Acentech seeks an experienced Senior AV Consultants for our Cambridge, Massachusetts and Thousand Oaks, California offices. Responsibilities include being responsible for designing Audiovisual and Information Technology Systems, collaborating with our clients, and producing reports and project documents including drawings and specifications. Candidates will provide support to the other AV, IT, and acoustics consultants in the office and coordinate, prepare, and commission completed systems.

Requirements:

BS or BA in a related field, a current BICSI, NSCA or Infocomm certification, and a minimum of 5 years experience designing AV projects. Must be highly experienced in the operation of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, EASE, and Visio. Must be self motivated and have a desire to do great work.
