Responsibilities include prediction, field measurements, and mitigation of vibration and noise of buildings and building components due to external disturbances (e.g., rail and road traffic, helicopter overflights, construction activities, wind gusts) and internal disturbances (personnel and mechanical equipment). Evaluation of impact on personnel and equipment. Prescription of mitigation means. Design and evaluation of means for protection of sensitive equipment from noise and vibration and of means for attenuation of vibrations and structure-borne sound. Advice on design of vibration-resistant facilities and structures. Analysis of potential damage to building structures and equipment due to vibrations and sound. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple projects.
